Skills and Competencies:
- At least two years of relevant experience at a leading law firm and/or in-house at a financial services, technology, or similar company working in a legal privacy role
- Practical knowledge of U.S. state and federal privacy, direct marketing, data breach and data broker laws
- Strong judgment and a pragmatic, risk-based approach, with the ability to translate complex legal requirements into clear, actionable guidance for business stakeholders
- Curiosity and adaptability, demonstrated through experience monitoring evolving legal requirements, commercial priorities, and emerging areas of risk
- Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, with enthusiasm for learning how AI tools can be used to improve processes and drive efficiency. Interest in exploring AI systems and a willingness to develop awareness of responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use
Education:
J.D. from an accredited law school, strong academic credentials, and admission to at least one state bar association
Responsibilities:
- Moody's is seeking a Privacy Counsel to support its Global Privacy Program, with primary responsibility for advising privacy matters across North America.
- Act as sole North Americas privacy counsel advising on U.S. and Canadian state and federal privacy, direct marketing, data breach and data broker laws
- Advise on day-to-day routine business queries, such as privacy and opt-out requests, employee monitoring, direct marketing, contract reviews, data incidents, and data broker registrations and disclosures.
- Review and assess privacy considerations for specific projects, including impact analyses of new laws, M&A due diligence, regulatory inquiries and litigation
- Provide legal support on emerging data privacy, data broker, and related laws in the U.S.
