Description:
As Principal Associate Counsel in the Litigation group's Discovery Tech team, you will support, grow, and improve the company's in-house e-discovery program. You are pragmatic and practical in your understanding of e-discovery and litigation support activities. You understand the technical, practical, and legal impacts of methods for collecting, processing, analyzing, reviewing and producing electronically stored information for litigation discovery. You are collaborative, inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology - especially machine learning and AI. You innovate with other stakeholders within Legal to manage legal risks and costs in an evolving legal landscape.

In this role, you will see litigation discovery as an opportunity to apply world-class technology and process techniques to control risks and costs while meeting the client's needs and obligations in litigation. You will work with Capital One's in-house discovery team, litigation teams, and outside counsel to perform and manage litigation support and discovery activities, including the collection, processing, analysis, review and production of electronically stored information.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Managing document review performed by internal contractors and external resources from law firms and service providers
  • Performing document productions from Relativity Server and RelativityOne eDiscovery software systems
  • Supporting in-house and external users in use of Relativity software
  • Coordinating the processing of data with the in-house data processing team
  • Work as a team with other attorneys and legal professionals

Basic Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
  • At least 3 years of experience in eDiscovery or litigation support
  • At least 3 years of experience with eDiscovery software

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of people management experience
  • 4+ years of experience in eDiscovery or litigation support
  • 4+ years of experience with Relativity eDiscovery software
  • Experienced performing large document productions out of Relativity software for all common production formats.
  • Familiarity with developments in discovery law and technology
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in communicating status, timelines, risks, and potential red flags to stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, collaborative environment to meet deadlines
  • Detail oriented and organized with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills

Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
