Job Description:
Full-time senior post-conviction litigation attorney responsible for assisting with the investigation and litigation of previously screened credible claims of innocence.
  • Case file review and case investigation
  • Legal Research
  • Identification and pursuit of forensic testing
  • Drafting of motions for DNA testing, Motions for Appropriate Relief, and appellate briefs
  • Representing clients in evidentiary hearings.
  • Assisting the Executive Director with other projects as needed

Educational Requirements and Experience:
  • Licensed to practice law in North Carolina or South Carolina.
  • Minimum 5 years of legal experience.
  • Experience in criminal defense.
  • Experience in drafting motions and/or briefs.

Compensation:
Salary in line with experienced public defender salaries.
