Thompson Hine seeking an experienced Staff Attorney to join our Personal & Succession Planning (PSP) practice group in our Cleveland, Columbus or Dayton office. This attorney will support the PSP practice across a broad range of estate administration, estate and gift tax, and trust administration matters. Core responsibilities include preparing initial probate papers; valuing assets through research and approved tools; preparing probate inventories, accountings, and other court-required filings; and tracking and communicating filing and other deadlines for firm-wide docketing. The role will also liaise with courts and government agencies to process filings, record deeds and conveyances, and, when necessary, personally file estate documents; draft deeds and other transfer documents to fund revocable trusts; coordinate and arrange beneficiary distributions; research state and county records to obtain information on business entities and heirs; and meet with Probate Court Magistrates as needed. This role also involves gathering and organizing gift, asset, and debt information from executors and trustees; preparing first drafts of estate and gift tax returns; and collaborating with external professionals such as accountants, financial advisors, and family offices. Trust administration responsibilities include reviewing brokerage statements, arranging beneficiary distributions, and preparing reports to beneficiaries. Prior experience working with banks, county auditors, and other governmental agencies is essential.

Compensation is determined by the market in which the position is located, the responsibilities of the position, the experience and skills of the applicant, and other job-related factors. The anticipated salary range for this position $100,000 - $125,000.
