Position Overview:
We are seeking a driven, sharp Litigation Attorney with at least 3+ years of hands-on civil litigation experience in plaintiff personal injury. This role is ideal for an associate who can handle navigating deadlines, excels at taking and defending depositions, prepares cases for mediation in a thorough manner to achieve maximum results for clients, and can independently move cases through the discovery and pre-trial phases. You will manage a dynamic caseload, handle contested liability and complex injury claims, and work alongside firm management and senior trial counsel to take high-value cases to mediation and possibly trial.

Key Responsibilities:
Litigation Management & Case Execution
  • Manage a portfolio of personal injury matters from initial filing through discovery, law and motion practice, mediation, and settlement or trial preparation.
  • Draft complex pleadings, discovery requests/responses, and substantive motions (e.g., motions to compel, motions in limine, opposition to MSJs).
  • Conduct and defend depositions of parties, key witnesses, treating physicians, and experts.

Courtroom & Dispute Resolution

  • Regularly appear for hearings and case management conferences.
  • Represent clients in mediations, arbitrations, and mandatory settlement conferences to secure maximum recoveries.
  • Assist senior trial counsel with trial strategy, exhibit preparation, witness outlines, and second-chair trial duties as needed.

Client & Expert Coordination

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, keeping them informed and prepared throughout the litigation lifecycle.
  • Work closely with medical providers, expert witnesses, life care planner, and investigators to build rock-solid liability and damages cases.
  • Direct case managers, legal assistants and paralegals to ensure efficient workflow, strict deadline compliance, and accurate case files.

Qualifications & Requirements:
Mandatory Requirements
  • Bar Admission: Active license to practice law in good standing with the State Bar of California.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of dedicated experience handling plaintiff personal injury civil litigation in California.
  • Deposition & Courtroom Record: Proven track record of independently taking/defending depositions and achieving strong results at mediation.
  • Procedural Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of the California Code of Civil Procedure, Civil Discovery Act, California Evidence Code, and local court rules.
