Description:

We are hiring an attorney to take over more than 100 active personal injury cases on day one. A substantial share of the docket is pre-litigation, and the rest is in suit. You will work files from the first demand through trial, backed by a team of case managers and paralegals, at a firm that is growing fast.

About the Firm:
Gus Anastopoulo Law Firm represents injured people and only injured people, handling car wreck, trucking, pedestrian, premises liability, negligent security, and dog bite cases across South Carolina. Gus founded the firm as a solo practice in 2021, and it is now a multi-attorney firm with statewide reach.

The Role, Plainly
You own every file from your first day. On pre-litigation files, you evaluate the claim, prepare the demand, and negotiate a resolution before suit. On litigation files, many are already in discovery with depositions underway. Some inherited files will need immediate attention, and firm leadership works through them with you. Our templates, workflows, and case management system are built to move cases efficiently, and we expect you to use them.

What you will do:
  • Evaluate each case for value and build the file to maximize the client's recovery.
  • Prepare demands and negotiate pre-litigation files to resolution.
  • Decide which cases need to be filed and when.
  • Draft pleadings, discovery, and motions, and press discovery until the case has what it needs.
  • Take and defend depositions and argue motions in state and federal court.
  • Treat every case like it is going to trial. Prepare for mediation and try the cases that need to be tried.
  • Direct and work alongside the case managers and paralegal on the files you own.

Requirements:
  • Licensed and in good standing with the South Carolina Bar.
  • Admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina.
  • At least three years of personal injury litigation experience, plaintiff or defense.
  • Experience with trial, depositions, and motion practice.

Is This Role a Fit?

This role is a fit if you:
  • Can see what a file is worth, weak spots included, and build the case around them.
  • Believe no case, client, or task is beneath you.
  • Learn our systems and processes first, then improve them with results.
  • Treat case managers and paralegals as partners on every file.
  • Work efficiently and manage your time and priorities across a high-volume docket.
  • Keep clients informed without being asked.
  • Take coaching and use it to get better.

This role is not a fit if you:

  • Think some cases, clients, or tasks are beneath you.
  • Take coaching and criticism personally instead of learning from it.
  • Need someone chasing your deadlines.
  • Talk down to staff.
  • Look for someone else to blame when a file falls behind.
