We are seeking an experienced Associate Attorney licensed in both Washington and Oregon who is ready to take ownership of a litigation caseload and become a long-term leader within our firm.
Position Summary:
The Associate Attorney will independently manage a substantial caseload of pre-litigation and litigation matters involving automobile collisions. This attorney will work closely with our litigation team, support staff, and firm leadership to provide outstanding representation while maintaining the highest ethical and professional standards.
The ideal candidate is confident in negotiations, comfortable in the courtroom, highly organized, and passionate about helping injured clients.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a personal injury caseload from intake through resolution.
- Develop litigation strategy and evaluate liability and damages.
- Conduct client meetings and maintain regular communication.
- Review medical records and analyze damages.
- Prepare demand packages and settlement evaluations.
- Negotiate with insurance adjusters and defense counsel.
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, mediation briefs, and trial documents.
- Take and defend depositions.
- Attend court hearings, arbitrations, mediations, and settlement conferences.
- Prepare cases for trial and assist in trying cases when necessary.
- Work collaboratively with legal assistants, paralegals, and negotiators.
- Mentor junior legal staff and contribute to firm training.
- Maintain accurate case notes and deadlines within the firm's case management system.
- Meet productivity, client communication, and litigation performance expectations.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Active license to practice law in both Washington and Oregon.
- Minimum of 3 years of plaintiff personal injury experience.
- Significant experience handling automobile accident cases.
- Experience managing litigation independently.
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Excellent oral advocacy and negotiation abilities.
- Experience taking and defending depositions.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
- Commitment to exceptional client service.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel for court appearances.
Preferred:
- Trial experience.
- Mediation and arbitration experience.
- Experience supervising support staff.
- Familiarity with Washington and Oregon civil procedure.
- Experience using case management software.
