About the role:
Widerman Malek is seeking a patent agent with 0–3 years of experience to join our firm at our headquarters in Melbourne, Florida. Recent technical graduates who are registered, or eligible for registration, with the USPTO are encouraged to apply.

This is a growth-oriented, in-office role. We will provide a steady pipeline of substantive patent prosecution work, modern tools to help you work efficiently, and mentorship from experienced patent practitioners. Our goal is to help you develop into a confident, self-sufficient patent professional who can manage matters, communicate effectively with clients and inventors, and build a rewarding long-term career with the firm.

This is an in-office position in Melbourne, Florida.

What You'll Do:
  • Draft and prosecute patent applications across a range of technologies, including software, electronics, medical devices, satellite technology, and consumer devices
  • Conduct prior art searches, patentability analyses, and freedom-to-operate reviews
  • Communicate with clients and inventors to understand technical innovations
  • Respond to Office Actions and work with attorneys and staff to manage prosecution timelines
  • Use modern docketing and patent prosecution tools to work efficiently and accurately
  • Collaborate with patent attorneys and other professionals in a collegial, team-oriented environment
  • As your experience grows, take on increased responsibility for managing patent matters and client relationships

What We're Looking For:
  • Registration to practice before the USPTO or eligibility to sit for the USPTO registration examination
  • Technical degree or background suitable for patent work, such as electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, physics, biomedical engineering, or a related field
  • Strong technical writing, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to understand complex technologies and explain them clearly and accurately
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • 0–3 years of relevant experience; recent technical graduates are encouraged to apply
  • A J.D. and state-bar admission are not required for this position
