The Impact You'll Make in this Role
As a Patent Agent, you will represent one or more divisions within 3M's Transportation & Electronics Business Group (TEBG). You will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Preparing and prosecuting physics, electrical, and optics related patent applications in the U.S. and globally.
- Representing 3M's interests in patent office procedures in the U.S and globally.
- Acting as a direct contact for and interact with U.S. and global inventors, lab managers, patent attorneys, patent liaison, and outside patent counsel.
- Other duties as assigned.
- To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
- Two (2) years of law firm and/or in-house patent preparation and prosecution experience in a private, public, government, or military environment.
- Registered to Practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office
- Experience in Physics, Electrical Engineering, and/or Optics
- Strong academic credentials
- Experience using AI for patent prep & pros.
- Highly effective and persuasive written and verbal communications skills
- Results-orientated approach; personal and organizational accountability; and a collegial work style
- High energy and a dedication to responsive client service
- Uncompromising honesty and integrity
