We support innovation in areas such as advanced materials, specialty chemicals, polymers, catalysts, antimicrobials, and personal care products. As a Patent Agent, you will help clients secure patent protection domestically and abroad.
Position Details:
- Meet with clients and inventors to understand new ideas and inventions
- Evaluate the patentability of innovations
- Research to determine the scope of protection claim by the inventor
- Prepare, draft and file patent applications
- Prepare letters of instruction to foreign counsel, for foreign counterparts, to US patent applications
- Reply to communications from patent offices during the patent application process
- Work closely with attorneys and in-house counsel
- Perform research and analysis, and provide guidance on a variety of patent and IP-related issues
- Maintain and manage documentation processes relating to patent laws, regulations and procedures
- Adhere to a standard of ethics
- Participate in special projects and other duties assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
- Must be a member of the U.S. patent bar
- Minimum of 1 year of patent drafting and prosecution experience required
- Strong technical proficiency (Microsoft products, legal databases)
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
