Dority & Manning, P.A., one of the nation's largest intellectual property law firms, is seeking a Patent Agent to join our Chemical Practice Group.

We support innovation in areas such as advanced materials, specialty chemicals, polymers, catalysts, antimicrobials, and personal care products. As a Patent Agent, you will help clients secure patent protection domestically and abroad.

Position Details:
  • Meet with clients and inventors to understand new ideas and inventions
  • Evaluate the patentability of innovations
  • Research to determine the scope of protection claim by the inventor
  • Prepare, draft and file patent applications
  • Prepare letters of instruction to foreign counsel, for foreign counterparts, to US patent applications
  • Reply to communications from patent offices during the patent application process
  • Work closely with attorneys and in-house counsel
  • Perform research and analysis, and provide guidance on a variety of patent and IP-related issues
  • Maintain and manage documentation processes relating to patent laws, regulations and procedures
  • Adhere to a standard of ethics
  • Participate in special projects and other duties assigned

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
  • Must be a member of the U.S. patent bar
  • Minimum of 1 year of patent drafting and prosecution experience required
  • Strong technical proficiency (Microsoft products, legal databases)
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
