Job Summary:Small midtown boutique subrogation law firm near Grand Central Terminal seeks a part-time litigation associate with a minimum of three (3) years of litigation experience to assist with our busy subrogation practice.
Responsibilities:
- Provide litigation support focusing on property damage claims
- Assist attorneys with all phases of litigation, including:
- Drafting pleadings, discovery, deficiency letters, demand letters, and mediation statements
- Document review and drafting
- Legal research
- Motion practice, including motions and oppositions
- Preparation of court filings
Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years of civil litigation experience
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to work collaboratively within a small team
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Knowledge of New York Civil Practice; Federal practice experience a plus
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school with active New York bar membership in good standing
- Bar admission in New Jersey and/or Connecticut a plus
- Experience conducting legal research using LexisNexis
- Experience with litigating property damage cases a plus
- Conduct comprehensive legal research using LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case strategies across diverse practice areas such as immigration law, landlord-tenant law, personal injury law, tribal law & regulations, patent law, and workers' compensation law.
- Draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, briefs, and correspondence with precision and clarity.
- Assist in case preparation by organizing evidence, preparing discovery requests and responses, and managing case files.
- Participate in client meetings, depositions, hearings, and negotiations as needed.
- Support attorneys in trial preparation and courtroom proceedings.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws and regulations affecting various practice areas.
- Collaborate with team members to develop effective legal strategies tailored to each client's needs.
