Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive legal research on statutes, case law, and procedural law relevant to felony appellate cases using resources like LexisNexis.
- Draft detailed appellate briefs, motions, and legal memoranda that clearly articulate arguments and support the prosecution's position.
- Review trial transcripts, depositions, and case files to identify key issues and develop strategic appellate arguments.
- Prepare for and participate in court depositions, hearings, and oral arguments before appellate courts.
- Collaborate with prosecutors to formulate case strategies, review evidence, and ensure procedural compliance throughout the appellate process.
- Maintain accurate case management records, monitor case deadlines, and ensure timely submission of all legal documents.
- Engage in statutory legal research related to diverse areas such as criminal law, procedural law, and specific statutes relevant to felony offenses.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of procedural law, criminal law, and appellate procedures.
- Experience in legal research using LexisNexis and other legal research tools.
- Excellent legal writing skills with the ability to craft persuasive briefs and motions.
- Familiarity with court depositions, trial preparation, and litigation strategies.
- Proficiency in contract drafting, legal negotiation, and client communication.
- Ability to manage multiple cases efficiently while adhering to deadlines.
- Prior experience in a law office setting or with general & commercial litigation is preferred.
