Role Overview:The Partnership and Referral Attorney in the Referral Department will serve as a key liaison between our firm and partner law firms. This role goes beyond traditional legal practice and requires strong interpersonal skills, business acumen, and the ability to assess and communicate the strength of potential cases. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining and expanding referral relationships, ensuring that clients are connected to the right resources, and representing ALG with professionalism and credibility.
In addition, this position will collaborate closely with the Director of Partner Relations and provide executive support, ensuring alignment on partnership strategies and supporting firm-wide initiatives at the leadership level.
What You'll Do:
Relationship Management
- Build, develop, and maintain high-level relationships with partner law firms and referral sources.
- Serve as a point of contact for new and existing partner firms, ensuring ongoing collaboration and trust.
- Represent ALG at networking events, legal industry functions, and partner meetings.
- Review and assess the merits of incoming cases to determine appropriate referral strategies.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure cases are properly documented before referral.
- Communicate case details effectively to referral partners, ensuring alignment on expectations.
- Identify opportunities to expand ALG's referral network and strengthen strategic partnerships.
- Work with leadership to negotiate referral terms and track performance of referral arrangements.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase referral volume and quality.
- Partner with intake, litigation, and administrative teams to ensure smooth hand-offs of cases.
- Collaborate with the Director of Partner Relations and executive support staff to drive efficiency, share insights, and strengthen organizational impact.
- Track referral activity, maintain updated records, and provide regular reports to leadership.
- Contribute ideas for improving referral processes and relationship-management strategies.
Qualifications:
Education & Licensing
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active member of the California State Bar (newly barred attorneys encouraged to apply).
Skills & Experience:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build rapport at all levels.
- Understanding of case types in employment law (wrongful termination, harassment, discrimination, wage & hour, etc.).
- Ability to evaluate case potential and articulate findings clearly to legal partners.
- Interest in business development and relationship management in a legal environment.
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple partnerships and deadlines.
