A Four-Lawyer Workers Compensation Boutique Defense Firm is hiring an Of Counsel attorney for our General Liability- Construction Defect practice group for our Texas team. Successful applicants must have exceptional writing, research, and litigation skills in a Construction Defect and Insurance Defense Liability practice.Primary duties include:
Requirements:
- File review and legal analysis of claims and causes of action
- Extensive legal research and drafting of substantial briefs, memos, pleadings, and appellate briefs
- Annual billable amount of 1950 hours required
- Regularly representing clients in court, at arbitrations and in depositions
- Drafting and responding to discovery requests
- Expert witness retention, collaboration, cross examination
- Trial preparation and Trial; voir dire through verdict
- Excellent client relationship, development, and consultation skills
- Some travel may be required
Requirements:
- 10+ years' experience in General Liability- Construction Defect
- J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school
- Admitted to practice in Texas (state and federal courts), other states a plus, but not required
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
- Solid research abilities and written and oral communication skills
- Strong work ethic, ability to self-manage and work in a team environment
- Must respond promptly to e-mail and phone inquiries
- Excellent client skills and telephone manner
