Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive transaction tax counsel representation to a middle market and large business clients, including high-net-worth families, corporations, and partnerships, conducting business domestically and internationally.
  • Advocate for clients before the IRS at the administrative level, including audits, appeals, and collections on matters involving domestic and international tax reporting. Experience as well before state and local taxing authorities is ideal.
  • Experience with reviewing and drafting transaction documents from a tax perspective.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of current developments in federal corporate, pass-through, trust, and international tax rules, and ongoing developments.
  • Foster strong collaborations with partners, associates, and other professionals within the firm to ensure the successful resolution of client matters.
  • Mentorship of associates and contribute to the continued growth of the corporate tax practice group.
  • Ability to generate at least 50% of billable work on individuals own.

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school first or top second tier U.S. law school, and LL.M in tax or MST preferred.
  • Barred in the state of the attorney's primary office location.
  • Minimum of 8 to 10 years of demonstrably successful experience in handling corporate and U.S. outbound and inbound international tax transaction matters, and review of related reporting, compliance, and tax accounting filings and documentation.
  • Deep understanding of Subchapter C (corporate), Subchapter (partnership), and U.S. CFC, PFIC, FTC, and related export incentive provisions of the Internal Revenue Code, federal and state tax laws, regulations, and administrative procedures.
  • Exceptional analytical, research, and writing skills.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills, fostering strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to work across all major offices of the firm.
  • Prior experience with domestic and international complex trusts and estates is a plus.
  • Prior AM 100 or 200 or Big Accounting Firm Washington National Tax or major metropolitan area transaction tax field office experience (and or Treasury Chief Counsel experience) are preferred and a plus.
  • CPA certification and work experience as a CPA in large public accounting firm or within the IRS, is a significant advantage.
  • Ability to bring 50% of portables in range of $400k to $600k is desirable.

Salary is $150,000 - $225,000+ based on experience and portable business.
