Position Title - Outreach Staff Attorney for Tulsa Immigrant Resources Network

Job Description:
The Outreach Staff Attorney (“Outreach Attorney”) will help TIRN carry on its outreach and education mission in new, innovative ways. The Attorney will develop and implement a model of pro-se-plus legal assistance to address a serious lack of representation in Tulsa. The Attorney will help TIRN use artificial intelligence legal platforms to maximize the impact of TIRN's pro-se-plus work. The Outreach Staff Attorney will help TIRN develop its social media presence in order to share general legal information and to guide noncitizens to participate in TIRN's emerging pro-se-plus model of service. The Attorney will strengthen TIRN's network by nurturing and building relationships with the noncitizen community, their advocates, and stakeholders across the board. The Attorney will manage a minimal direct representation caseload in order remained updated, firsthand, to the realities facing noncitizen applicants and advocates.

Legal Outreach and Education:
  • Design and implement an effective model of pro-se-plus limited legal assistance that targets the need for preparation of applications for immigration relief, and other discreet legal needs. Plan and conduct workshops and outreach events to enhance awareness about noncitizens' rights and legal opportunities.
  • Artificial Intelligence Tools: Assist TIRN in implementing the use of gpt4 artificial intelligence legal platforms to maximize our pro-se-plus impact and to increase access to Due Process and favorable outcomes for Tulsa noncitizens.
  • Community Partner Education: Collaborate with community partners to share knowledge, resources, and best practices related to immigration law. Provide training and educational materials to these stakeholders to build a strong support network for the noncitizen community.
  • Social Media and Content Development: Assist in expanding TIRN's social media presence by collaborating to create engaging content related to immigration law, its impact on communities, and relevant explanation of changes on the immigration landscape.
  • Partner Relationship Reinforcement: Maintain and strengthen existing partnerships with organizations, agencies, and individuals working in immigration-related fields. Foster positive and collaborative relationships to enhance TIRN's reach and impact within the community.
  • Networking and Community Building: Actively seek opportunities to build new connections and partnerships with potential stakeholders, including legal professionals, advocacy groups, educational institutions, community leaders, and U.S. immigration officials. Page 2 of 2
  • Maintain a light direct-representation caseload; use insights from direct representation to teach the public how to advocate for themselves

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and admitted to practice law in the state of Oklahoma.
  • Demonstrated commitment to immigration law and advocacy, with a strong understanding of the unique challenges faced by the noncitizen community.
  • Experience in providing legal assistance and education to underserved communities, preferably in the immigration law context.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively convey legal information to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in using social media platforms and digital marketing strategies to engage with the community and promote educational content.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain partnerships with organizations and individuals from various backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence tools in the legal context is a plus, with a willingness to learn and adapt to emerging technologies.
  • Fluency in languages commonly spoken in the Tulsa noncitizen community is advantageous
