Position Summary:
The Associate Attorney (North Carolina) at RAS LaVrar is a pivotal member of our rapidly expanding creditors' rights practice, focused on the efficient and compliant resolution of high-volume legal files. This role is responsible for the end-to-end management of cases, from the initial review of conditions precedent to the execution of contested trials and discovery. The position requires a candidate who can balance meticulous attention to detail with the speed necessary for a high-volume environment, ensuring that all legal strategies align with both client expectations and strict regulatory standards.

Responsibilities and Duties:
The following responsibilities are central to the role:

Litigation & Case Management
  • Practice Management: Assist with managing the firm's North Carolina legal practice.
  • Hearing Advocacy: Represent the firm's interests by handling court hearings throughout the state of North Carolina.
  • Trial & Contested Matters: Handle contested legal issues, including the drafting and oversight of discovery and representation of clients during trials.
  • Resolution Strategy: Monitor file progress and develop effective strategies to bring cases to resolution efficiently while maintaining high-quality work products.
  • Pleading Oversight: Draft and review pleadings, motions, and professional correspondence to initiate and advance legal actions.

Compliance & Document Review
  • Conditions Precedent Review: Perform comprehensive audits of all conditions precedent to filing, notices, demand letters, and supporting documentation.
  • Regulatory Safeguarding: Ensure all actions remain in strict compliance with local, state, and federal collections requirements, as applicable.
  • Data Integrity: Maintain and update internal systems with real-time findings, documentation, and strategic recommendations to ensure firm-wide transparency.

Professionalism & Collaboration
  • Client & Court Liaison: Exercise a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism when interacting with the judiciary, opposing counsel, and financial institution clients.
  • Operational Alignment: Work independently while maintaining strong interpersonal communication to ensure internal systems reflect accurate case statuses.

Educational / Experience Qualifications
  • Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensing: Active Bar membership in North Carolina is strictly required.
  • Experience: 1–3 years of legal experience is preferred; prior experience in legal collections, foreclosure, or creditors' rights is preferred.
  • Location Note: We are looking to hire a candidate who lives in Charlotte or the surrounding area.
  • Multi-State Consideration: Additional compensation and special consideration will be given to candidates licensed to practice law, or who become licensed in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia, and/or Pennsylvania.
