Job Information:
Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.

This is an executive position (no union affiliation) and serves at the pleasure of the Mayor of A Government Entity.

Department: Municipal Attorney - Civil Law Division
Hours of Work: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Location: City Hall 632 W 6th Avenue

Example of Duties:
Under the direction of the Municipal and Deputy Municipal Attorney, creates department policies, maintain, and create office systems. Analyzes legal documents, cases, and facts to prepare cases and legal opinions. Supervise attorneys and staff by providing training, feedback, fielding questions, screen cases and case assignments. Provide training for attorneys to improve community safety and the efficiency of prosecution with other Municipal departments, law enforcement, Alaska Court System, Department of Corrections, State Department of Law, and other agencies, including governmental departments and non-profits. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences
Graduation from an accredited school of law, must be admitted to the State of Alaska Bar Association, and four (4) years of experience as a Municipal Attorney I with A Government Entity or the equivalent elsewhere.

Must possess a valid State of Alaska driver's license and satisfactory driving record at time of hire.

Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN) / National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certification within 30 days of hire.
