This is an executive position (no union affiliation) and serves at the pleasure of the Mayor of A Government Entity.

Department: Municipal Attorney - Civil Law Division

Example of Duties:Assistant Municipal Attorney positions function as an assistant to the Municipal Attorney to provide the full range of legal services on requests from the Mayor, Manager, Chief Executive Officers and Municipal Assemblly, either directly or through the Municipal Attorney as appropriate and assigned. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences
  • Graduation from an accredited school of law, must be admitted to the State of Alaska Bar Association, and four (4) years of experience as a Municipal Attorney I with A Government Entity or the equivalent elsewhere.
  • Must possess a valid State of Alaska driver's license and satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
  • Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN) / National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certification within 30 days of hire.
