Baker Botts is seeking a mid-level associate with 3–6 years of experience to join our Global Projects department with a focus on Oil & Gas to join our Houston office. The ideal candidate will have experience advising clients on domestic and international energy transactions, with a focus on upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas matters. This role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated, high-profile transactions as part of a collaborative and growing practice.Responsibilities:
- Advise clients on a broad range of oil and gas transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, development projects, and commercial agreements.
- Draft, review, and negotiate transaction documents, including purchase and sale agreements, joint operating agreements, farmout agreements, transportation agreements, and other energy-related commercial contracts.
- Conduct due diligence and assist in managing transaction processes from inception through closing.
- Work directly with partners and clients on strategic legal and business issues.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across practice groups and jurisdictions.
- Support business development and client relationship initiatives as appropriate.
Qualifications:
- 3–6 years of experience in a corporate transactional practice, preferably with significant oil and gas industry experience.
- Experience handling acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, or other energy-related transactions.
- Strong drafting, negotiation, analytical, and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent academic credentials and communication skills.
- J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to, or eligibility for admission in, the relevant jurisdiction.
For positions based in the Houston office of Baker Botts L.L.P., the salary range is $260,000 to $390,000 and depends on a candidate's experience.
