A Regulatory Compliance Law Firm is a full-service boutique law firm headquartered in New York City with branches located in California and China. Our practice focuses on all aspects of corporate and litigation practice including contracts, limited liability and corporation law, shareholder disputes, labor and employment litigation, commercial landlord & tenant representation and litigation, and cross-border commercial litigation. We often act as the local general counsel for Chinese companies doing business in the United States.

We are looking for additional support to service our rapidly expanding client base. The litigation associate will work closely with the Corporate & Litigation Partner. This position offers excellent opportunities to grow in a cooperative work environment, develop client relationships, and participate in developing case law in shifting areas of litigation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Handle complex legal matters, analyze legal (and business, where applicable) issues, draft legal documents, and negotiate matters and solve intricate problems using sound legal judgment and expertise
  • Build and maintain client relationships by providing insightful, timely, pragmatic, and proactive counsel
  • Prepare, initiate, advocate and effectively present legal points and recommendations to clients and to represent clients as legal counsel
  • Prepare, edit, and finalize pleadings, briefs, motions, notices, and other legal documents
  • Appear in state and federal courts or at depositions
  • Manage discovery, including taking or presenting witnesses for deposition
  • Guide junior attorneys, paraprofessionals or administrative staff

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of two to three years of relevant experience working in a litigation department
  • License to practice in State of New York
  • Admission to federal courts a plus
  • Strong academic and professional credentials with excellent analytical, legal research, and communication skills, especially legal writing skills
  • The ability to communicate effectively, manage complete caseload and handle multiple priorities in a timely and professional manner
