Job Summary:In this role, you will act as a key advisor and direct a team of attorneys to proactively assist project management with complex contracts and a range of legal issues. You will develop legal positions, advise on implications, lead negotiations, and manage claims and investigations. Your strategic leadership and recommendations will ensure achievement of team goals in an ethical and inclusive work environment.
"This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership”
Major Responsibilities:
- Manages insured litigation and claims.
- Directs work of outside counsel.
- Provides legal advice and guidance on insurance coverage and insured matters.
- Develops and implements legal strategy for insured cases and claims.
- Analyzes lawsuits and claims for insurance coverage.
- Works with company personnel to gather facts and respond to requests for documents and information necessary for defense of insured matters.
- Supervises work of legal assistants and information resources specialists.
- Evaluates and assists outside counsel in preparation of insured cases for trial and settlement.
- Interviews and evaluates potential witnesses.
- Assists in selection and preparation of expert witnesses.
- Conducts legal research.
- Verifies discovery responses on behalf of the company.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires a Juris Doctor (or international equivalent) and 15+ years of relevant experience.
- Active State Bar membership
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Must have at least 10 years of litigation experience.
- Extensive experience managing document collection and reviews in large, complex matters using electronic document and case management systems, including supervision of legal assistants, close collaboration with litigation support personnel, and oversight of electronic data vendors.
- Trial, deposition and witness preparation experience.
- Excellent analytical, organizational and written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
- Superior interpersonal skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
- Interest in other countries, cultures, and global business issues.
- Knowledge of insurance coverage and experience evaluating insurance coverage is preferred.
- Experience in mass tort litigation or environmental compliance/OSHA is preferred.
