This position works under broad direction and collaborates with a team responsible for the end-to-end subpoena process. The attorney will primarily focus on handling complex subpoena matters, which often require extensive research and coordination across internal departments and external entities.

Job Description:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with department guidelines:
  • Handle complex and sensitive subpoenas served on the company, including response strategy, data/document coordination, and legal objections or negotiations.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant subpoena responses in collaboration with internal stakeholders and third-party administrators.
  • Monitor and improve subpoena response workflows and protocols using data analytics and process improvement methodologies.
  • Monitor outsourced team of attorneys and paralegals who are responsible for the intake, review, response and resolution of 3rd party subpoenas served on the company.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable laws and regulations related to subpoena handling and commercial insurance.

Reporting Relationship:
AVP or above

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
  • Strong interest and experience in legal operations, with a working knowledge of legal processes and systems.
  • Advanced legal expertise, particularly in litigation and subpoena response.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint; experience with SharePoint and Microsoft Teams is a plus.
  • Familiarity with legal technology platforms and data analytics tools.

Education & Experience:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (required).
  • Minimum of 4+ years of relevant legal experience
  • Experience with 3rd party subpoena response.
