We currently have an opening for a Litigation Counsel in our Mason, Ohio location. Responsibilities include:
- Manage and handle litigation and claims (including employment, product liability, contract, and warranty) and product safety, reliability, and risk issues for the Company. This includes preparing drafts of filings and discovery requests and responses in connection with pending litigation.
- Investigate and respond to charges filed with the EEOC and state human rights commissions as well as conduct internal ethics investigations.
- Experience with internal contacts which includes all personnel from several departments (including HR, Engineering, Marketing and Quality) at both headquarters and manufacturing and distribution facilities. Frequent contact with outside counsel and some outside vendors.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a law firm setting handling a wide range of employment litigation matters.
- University degree and a J.D. from a recognized law school required.
- Licensed to practice law in at least one state, with the ability to obtain Corporate Counsel Status Registration if not licensed in Ohio.
- Ability to handle a broad range of employment law issues, including (a) drafting responses to EEOC/OCRC charges, (b) managing and working with outside counsel on employment litigation, and (c) conducting internal investigations and gathering/reviewing information.
- Ability to quickly learn other types of litigation (e.g. product liability, commercial, etc.) or experience with other types of litigation.
- Ability to write legal briefs and court-filed documents and complex correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively with in-house, outside or opposing counsel, as well as a wide range of Company employees (HR, engineering, quality, and marketing).
