Description:

About the role:
Suno sits at the center of the most consequential set of legal questions facing AI today, and our litigation docket reflects it. We're hiring a Litigation Counsel to lead the full breadth of that work — managing high-profile copyright and IP matters in the U.S. and Europe alongside the company's privacy, employment, commercial, and emerging disputes. You'll partner closely with the General Counsel, work shoulder-to-shoulder with Suno's business affairs and product legal teams, and be asked to take on strategic legal initiatives at the GC's request as the company scales. You'll have meaningful ownership from day one, direct exposure to the executive team, and a docket that will help define how generative AI and music coexist.

What You'll Do:
  • Lead Suno's litigation function across its full docket — copyright and IP matters in U.S. federal court and in Europe, plus the company's privacy, employment, commercial, and emerging disputes.
  • Manage outside counsel relationships — staffing, budgets, work product, and performance — to deliver results that align with business and product strategy.
  • Partner closely with the business affairs and product legal teams to align litigation strategy with commercial deals, product roadmaps, and the company's broader legal posture.
  • Build the litigation function from the inside: case management workflows, legal hold and discovery processes, knowledge capture, and reporting that scale as the docket grows.
  • Take on strategic legal initiatives at the General Counsel's request — projects that may sit outside any single matter but materially shape Suno's legal foundation.
  • Help defend the legal foundation for Creative Entertainment, so we can keep delivering on a mission to make creative fulfillment a daily reality for everyone.

What You'll Need:
Must-Haves:
  • JD and active membership in good standing with a U.S. state bar.
  • Minimum 7 years of litigation experience at a top law firm and/or in-house, including complex commercial, IP, or copyright matters.
  • Demonstrated experience working in or with the music industry
  • Substantive copyright knowledge — comfortable with infringement frameworks, fair use, DMCA, and statutory damages analysis.
  • Track record managing outside counsel, budgets, and case strategy across the lifecycle of a dispute.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills, with the ability to take a complex record and turn it into a clear strategic recommendation for non-lawyers.
  • Sharp business judgment and a low-ego, hands-on approach to working across an organization.
  • Comfort with pace and change, intellectual curiosity about AI and music technology, and high integrity.

Nice-to-haves:
  • Experience managing or substantively participating in both U.S. and European litigation.
  • Prior in-house experience at an AI/ML, content platform, or music company.
  • Familiarity with class action and mass arbitration dynamics.
  • Experience with privacy, employment, or trust-and-safety disputes.
  • Experience supporting a pre-IPO company or IPO process.
