Position Summary:An attorney at Virginia Injury Law is responsible for actively negotiating and maximizing the value of their own cases, including reviewing, and analyzing files for proper diagnosis, causation, permanency, prognosis past and future economic and non-economic damages.

Essential Duties:
- Maintain full responsibility for an assigned litigation caseload from intake through resolution or trial
- Evaluate liability, damages, coverage, and risk to formulate litigation and trial strategy
- Prepare cases for trial with the expectation of litigating—not default settlement
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and responses
- Conduct depositions, hearings, and motion practice
- Argue motions and represent clients in court proceedings
- Prepare trial exhibits, witness lists, jury instructions, and trial briefs
- Serve as first-chair or meaningful second-chair counsel as appropriate
- Maintain direct attorney-client relationships throughout litigation
- Clearly explain litigation strategy, risks, and timelines to clients
- Advocate for clients with professionalism, empathy, and authority
- Work closely with Case Managers to ensure deadlines, discovery, and client needs are met
- Coordinate with the Client Recovery team regarding liens, costs, and settlement execution
- Use the firm's case management and document systems accurately and consistently

- Contribute to a culture of trial readiness, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Maintain compliance with ethical, procedural, and court rules

Minimum Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active license to practice law in Virginia
- Minimum of 3 years of litigation experience
- Demonstrated experience preparing cases for trial
- Strong written and oral advocacy skills
- High level of organization, judgment, and accountability
- Ability to appear in Richmond-area courts as required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Personal injury litigation experience
- Trial or second-chair trial experience
- Spanish language proficiency
- Experience managing litigation costs and budgets
- Familiarity with modern case management and legal technology platforms

Pay: $110,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
