Overview:Cesar Ornelas Law is seeking a driven and experienced Litigation Attorney to join our legal team, bringing expertise across a broad spectrum of legal disciplines. In this role, you will lead complex litigation cases, provide strategic legal counsel, and advocate passionately for our clients. Our Texas offices include San Antonio, El Paso, Dallas, Houston, and Midland. Our New Mexico offices include Hobbs, Santa Fe, and Española.
Duties:
- Manage all phases of litigation from inception through trial, including case investigation, discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.
- Draft and review legal documents such as pleadings, motions, contracts, settlement agreements, and legal memoranda with precision and clarity.
- Represent clients in court depositions, hearings, mediations, and negotiations with a focus on effective advocacy and favorable resolutions.
- Develop comprehensive case management plans that include procedural law compliance, evidence collection, and strategic planning for trial readiness.
- Communicate regularly with clients to provide updates, explain legal options, and ensure their understanding of case developments.
- Collaborate with colleagues on general & commercial litigation matters, employment law cases, personal injury claims, and specialized areas such as securities law or tribal law & regulations.
- Prepare legal motions that are clear, persuasive, and compliant with procedural rules to advance client interests in court proceedings.
- Maintain records of all case activities using legal case management systems to ensure efficiency and compliance with firm standards.
- Mentor junior attorneys and support staff as needed
- Ensure compliance with all court deadlines and procedural requirements
Experience:
- Proven experience in general & commercial litigation with a strong background in personal injury law and employment law cases.
- Hands-on experience preparing court depositions and managing complex litigation files from start to finish.
- Strong knowledge of procedural law governing civil litigation processes across multiple jurisdictions.
- Prior involvement in contract drafting, trial preparation, legal negotiation strategies, and client communication is essential.
- Excellent writing skills for drafting clear pleadings, motions, contracts, and memoranda that withstand judicial scrutiny.
- Ability to manage multiple cases efficiently while maintaining attention to detail under tight deadlines.
