Responsibilities:
- Monitor the progress of pre-litigation and litigation matters.
- Draft pleadings, motions, and legal documents with precision and attention to detail.
- Conduct depositions and other discovery processes efficiently.
- Trial experience is a significant advantage, showcasing your ability to represent clients in court effectively.
- Attend court proceedings, hearings, and mediations to advocate for clients.
- Meet with clients to understand their needs, provide legal counsel, and offer strategic advice.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of New Jersey law and legal procedures.
- Conduct research and draft pleadings, briefs, and motions
- Provide legal counsel to clients by analyzing their needs and determining a proper course of action
- Appear in court on behalf of clients and argue motions during legal proceedings
- Take responsibility for administrative staff relating to client invoicing/billing records, setting up meetings with clients and completing tasks
- Identify client conflicts and determine case strategies with options for resolution
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and admitted to the New Jersey Bar.
- Minimum 3-5 years of proven experience in litigation, with a focus on commercial, contract, and employment law.
- Strong drafting skills for pleadings and legal documents.
- Deposition experience.
- Trial experience is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and the judiciary.
- In-depth knowledge of New Jersey law and legal procedures.
- Knowledge of Insurance Defense, Consumer Fraud, or Business Litigation is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and time management prowess.
- Initiative and follow-through skills are a must.
- Required Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school; representation of clients for at least 2 years a plus
- Candidates must currently be a member of their local bar association - active member preferred
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs is needed
- Public speaking, decision-making, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills are necessary for this role
- Strong knowledge of legal research programs such as Westlaw and Lexis products is required
Compensation:
$85,000 - $120,000 yearly
