Job Summary:
We are seeking a competent and experienced Litigation Attorney to join our boutique dental malpractice defense firm. In this role, you will handling complex legal disputes requiring an understanding of dental medicine and its application to legal principles. We are prepared to train and supervise our new associate which will provide a valuable skill set advancing your position at the firm and your career goals generally. The firms Partners will be working with you to ensure that you can capably handle all types of Court appearances, including trials. Many of our cases involve serious injuries including oral cancer, paresthesia, loss of bodily organ and limbs, and even death. Despite our boutique size, we are indeed considered a top tier firm in the area of dental defense, and our reputation was hard won. Responsibilities:
  • Manage all phases of litigation cases from inception through resolution, including pleadings, discovery, motions, trial preparation, and settlement negotiations
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research using Westlaw to support case strategy and legal argument at trial and in motions and appeallate papers.
  • Draft litigation documents such as pleadings, motions, briefs, contracts, and correspondence.
  • Inform and advise clients on allegations and defense strategies.
  • Develop effective defense in conjunction with medical experts and our client dentists.
  • Collaborate with the firm's attorneys and staff to obtain a coordinated and effective defense for our clients.

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with active bar admission in relevant jurisdiction
  • Litigation experience, although we are prepared to train lawyers who demonstrate a desire to learn and contribute to our success.
  • Research skills utilizing the Westlaw platform.
  • Ability to manage personal calendar of assignments.
  • Ability to manage time and preparation of legal billing. We are prepared to train those who have not had this experience previously.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively represent our clients in Court and at trial.
  • Ability to work well with clients, and office personnel.
