Description:
O'Connor, O'Connor, Bresee & First, P.C. is seeking a litigation attorney to join our firm in our new Binghamton, New York office. Candidates must be licensed to practice law in New York and it is preferable they have at least 2 years of experience.Duties:
- Manage all phases of litigation from initial case assessment through trial and appeal, including discovery, depositions, motion practice, and settlement negotiations;
- Conduct thorough legal research using tools like LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case strategies;
- Draft and review legal documents including pleadings, motions, contracts, discovery demands and responses, and legal memoranda with precision and clarity;
- Prepare for trial or hearings by developing case strategies, organizing evidence, and coordinating with experts and witnesses;
- Communicate effectively with clients to provide updates, gather information, and advise on legal options;
- Represent clients in court proceedings including trials, hearings, depositions, mediations, and conferences;
- Maintain meticulous case management records and ensure compliance with procedural laws and deadlines;
Experience:
- Proven experience in litigation practice with a focus on personal injury cases, medical malpractice, or complex civil litigation;
- Strong knowledge of procedural law and statutory research methods;
- Demonstrated ability to draft legal motions and pleadings, with excellent writing skills;
- Experience conducting depositions, hearings, and trial preparation;
- Proficiency with legal research platforms like LexisNexis and Westlaw;
- Excellent negotiation skills;
- Be willing to have a proactive approach to client communication;
- Prior law office experience handling multiple cases simultaneously;
