Role Description:
This is a full-time Litigation Attorney position with flexibility for some remote work. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years' experience. A background in Construction litigation is preferred but not required. Associates are expected to have collected, billable hours of 1,350 hours a year, a family-friendly metric that encourages work/life harmony. Our goal is to promote a balance between work and family for associates and partners.
Responsibilities:
- Effectively manage case load;
- Manage cases from inception up to trial;
- Prepare motions, oppositions to motions, and reply briefs, and attend hearings;
- Prepare for and take depositions;
- Prepare discovery requests, discovery responses, and subpoenas;
- Prepare agreements, such as settlement agreements and joint defense agreements;
- Research case law and statutes;
- Review and analyze documents produced by opposing counsel and documents provided by clients;
- Interact with clients and opposing counsel in a courteous and thoughtful manner; and
- Enter billable time promptly and accurately.
Qualifications:
- Experience in litigation.
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Ability to effectively argue motions and participate in court hearings.
- Experience in taking and defending depositions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to practice law in Florida.
- Experience in construction law, corporate and real estate is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities at once.
