The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, detail-oriented team member with strong communication skills and a desire to grow their practice.
Successful Candidate:
We are looking for an attorney with 5-7 years of litigation experience practicing in state and federal court. Municipal, Employment and Education Law experience is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handling employment-related, civil rights and other municipal litigation from discovery through trial including drafting discovery motions, motions to dismiss and summary judgment motions.
- Providing legal advice and guidance on employment law matters, including but not limited to hiring practices, employee relations, terminations, discrimination, harassment, and wage and hour issues.
- Handling employee disciplinary matters, labor grievances and arbitrations and collective bargaining negotiations
- Handling cases before administrative tribunals such as the Public Employment Relations Board, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and New York State Division of Human Rights
- Conducting legal research and analysis to support decision-making and provide recommendations to stakeholders.
- Providing legal advice regarding education related matters including special education services and handling impartial hearings.
- Collaborate with client's internal stakeholders, including HR, management, and other legal teams, to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the relevant state bar association.
- 5-7 years of state and/or federal court litigation experience.
- Strong research and writing skills
- Knowledge of state and federal court motion practice and procedures.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Proven track record of managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Competitive salary commensurate with experience
Salary: $135k-$175k
