Overview:
ThompsonMcMullan, P.C. is seeking a Litigation Associate to join our Litigation Team in our Shockoe Slip, Richmond, VA office. The ideal candidate should have experience handling civil litigation matters in both state and federal courts.
The Litigation Associate will play an active role in all phases of litigation with opportunities to gain hands-on courtroom experience and appear in state and federal court. In this role, the ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and assisting with civil litigation matters; conducting legal research and analyzing complex legal and factual issues; drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, memoranda, discovery requests and responses, and other litigation documents; participating in depositions, hearings, conferences, mediations, and arbitrations; and assisting with trial preparation, including case strategy, exhibits, evidence, and witness preparation. The position will also involve communicating with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and other professionals, participating in settlement negotiations, evaluating litigation risks and potential outcomes, and working collaboratively with partners, associates, and support staff to effectively manage cases and meet deadlines.
The successful candidate will possess excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills, along with exceptional attention to detail. This position requires sound judgment, discretion, confidentiality, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Candidates should be adaptable and willing to assist wherever needed to support the firm's attorneys, clients, and staff.
This is a full-time, non-exempt, and in-office position.
Salary Range: $115,000-$150,000 annually, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
