The Kaufman Dolowich New York City office—part of a nationally recognized law firm with more than 250 attorneys nationwide—is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney to join our growing and highly regarded litigation practice.This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced litigators on sophisticated and complex litigation matters in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. Our attorneys receive meaningful hands-on experience, direct client interaction, and strong mentorship while representing businesses, insurers, and professionals across a broad range of litigation matters.
Associates are given the opportunity to take an active role in all phases of litigation, including case strategy, motion practice, depositions, court appearances, mediations, and trial preparation. The ideal candidate will be a motivated attorney who is eager to develop litigation skills, assume increasing responsibility, and build a successful long-term practice within a growing national law firm.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a litigation caseload from inception through resolution
- Draft and respond to written discovery
- Take and defend depositions
- Prepare, draft, and argue motions
- Participate in court conferences, oral arguments, mediations, and other litigation proceedings
- Develop litigation strategy and manage day-to-day case responsibilities
- Communicate directly with clients and provide strategic guidance and regular case updates
- Collaborate closely with attorneys across offices and practice groups on complex litigation matters
Qualifications:
- Admission to practice in New York required
- Minimum of 3 years of defense litigation experience
- Strong writing, research, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced litigation environment
- Strong organizational, case management, and interpersonal skills
Preferred Experience:
- Insurance defense litigation
- General liability, professional liability, employment, or commercial litigation
- Experience handling depositions, motion practice, mediations, and court appearances
- Experience managing matters independently and working directly with clients
