Job Overview:Garcia & Milas, P.C., a dynamic New Haven based law firm is seeking an associate attorney with 3-5 years of legal experience who is admitted to practice in Connecticut. The successful candidate will have an interest in working in various areas, including complex commercial and construction litigation, business law, franchise law, and personal injury.
Additionally, we are seeking a candidate that possess strong writing, research and communication skills. Litigation experience is preferred, and exposure to insurance work or construction is a plus. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive legal research using tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case strategies and stay current on relevant laws and regulations.
- Draft and review legal documents including pleadings, motions, briefs, contracts, and settlement agreements with precision and clarity.
- Manage all phases of litigation from initial client consultation through trial preparation and resolution.
- Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, depositions, and court proceedings with professionalism and confidence.
- Maintain organized case files and ensure compliance with procedural deadlines across various jurisdictions.
- Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop case strategies tailored to each client's needs while providing insightful legal analysis.
- Support the firm's administrative functions by maintaining accurate records of case activities and legal research.
Experience:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school; admission to the bar in relevant jurisdiction(s).
- Demonstrated proficiency in legal research platforms including LexisNexis and Westlaw.
- Strong writing skills with the ability to produce clear and persuasive legal documents.
- Prior experience working in a busy law office environment with exposure to legal administrative processes is preferred.
