Kelley Drye & Warren LLP is seeking an experienced litigation attorney to manage a dedicated docket of matters and provide day to day case administration. Our litigation team provides practical, business-savvy advocacy, guiding clients through complex business litigation. Our courtroom-tested trial lawyers have successfully handled significant and challenging cases in federal and state courts, arbitration tribunals and administrative bodies nationwide.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and capable of independently handling a variety of tasks across the lifecycle of litigation. This role requires strong judgment and the ability to thrive in a fast paced, detail-oriented environment.
We work seamlessly across office lines and are open to considering experienced candidates in any Kelley Drye office but have a strong preference for the candidate to be based in New York, NY. Please note, Bar admission is required in an attorney's resident and/or affiliated office. If a candidate is also barred in California, that is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:
Docket Management:
  • Independently oversee and maintain a large docket of active and similarly situated matters.
  • Track deadlines, ensure compliance with procedural requirements, and maintain accurate case status reporting.
  • Coordinate filings, hearing schedules, discovery, and other case related workflows.
  • Case Administration & Partner Support:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all case activity specific to an assigned partner/client.
  • Prepare case summaries, timelines, and status updates.
  • Manage and organize case files, correspondence, and key documents.

Litigation:
  • Draft, review, and revise pleadings, motions, correspondence, and memoranda based on preferred templates.
  • Conduct legal research and provide concise, practical analyses and recommendations.
  • Support deposition preparation, witness interviews, and trial preparation as needed.
  • Client Interaction:
  • Communicate directly with the client or client representatives to provide updates and respond to inquiries.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the client's operations, priorities, risk profile, and overall litigation strategy.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality service aligned with client expectations.
  • Coordination & Collaboration:
  • Work closely with internal teams, including partners, associates, paralegals and administrative staff.
  • Coordinate with outside counsel, experts, or vendors as needed.

Requirements:
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a law firm or other high-volume legal environment with an active litigation docket.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a sizable docket with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent legal writing, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with attorneys and clients.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize competing deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.
  • Client-service orientation with a proactive, solutions focused approach.
  • Top academic credentials and a JD from an accredited law school.
  • Bar admission is required in an attorney's resident and/or affiliated office. California bar admission a plus.

The salary range displayed is specifically for those potential hires who will work or reside in New York City if selected for the role. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data/ranges, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees, and certifications (e.g., JD/technology) for example. Salary Range: Low: $200,000 to High: $210,000.
