Description:

We are seeking an experienced litigation attorney to assist with an overflow of contested and uncontested probate, estate and trust administration, and guardianship matters in New York and New Jersey.

This opportunity is suited to an attorney seeking substantive legal work on a part-time or per diem basis. You will work directly with our attorneys and support staff, contributing to case strategy, drafting, and court proceedings.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct legal research and develop case strategy.
  • Draft pleadings, petitions, motions, briefs, and other court submissions.
  • Prepare and respond to discovery, including document demands and interrogatories.
  • Assist with probate disputes, fiduciary litigation, accountings, and guardianship proceedings.
  • Prepare for and handle conferences, hearings, and other court appearances as assigned.
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and the court.
  • Manage assigned work efficiently and meet court and internal deadlines.

Qualifications:
  • Admission to practice and good standing in both New York and New Jersey.
  • At least five years of civil litigation experience.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with New York and New Jersey court rules and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with our team.
  • Experience in probate, trust and estate litigation, or guardianship proceedings is preferred.

Schedule and Compensation

  • Part-time or per diem arrangement, with scheduling coordinated around assignments and court obligations.
  • Anticipated workload of approximately 20–40 hours per month, depending on caseload and availability.
  • Hourly compensation: based on experience and qualifications.
