Description:Verrill is actively seeking a Litigation Associate to join our Litigation Practice Group in our Westport, Connecticut office. Our Litigation Practice Group is among the most experienced in New England, handling a vast array of litigation cases. Our team has tried more than six hundred (600) jury and non-jury cases, in addition to several hundred arbitrations, and thousands of mediations and administrative proceedings. The attorneys in the group are devoted to working closely with clients throughout the litigation process to resolve complex legal issues while providing the highest quality of service.
The ideal candidate will have prior litigation experience; a judicial clerkship or one to three years of experience is strongly preferred. The successful applicant must demonstrate exceptional research and writing abilities, a strong academic record, and outstanding verbal and interpersonal communication skills with both colleagues and clients. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex civil litigation matters from inception through resolution, including trial. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct thorough legal research and draft memoranda that inform case strategy and client advisement; prepare and respond to written discovery requests including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission; draft pleadings such as complaints, answers, and motions, including dispositive motions; and prepare for and attend depositions. Occasional travel may be required based on business needs. Admission to the Connecticut Bar or eligibility to obtain admission is required. Admission to the New York Bar is a plus.
