About the Opportunity:Fields Howell is seeking a mid-level litigation associate (3–5 years) to join our insurance coverage and defense practice in Yardley, Pennsylvania. This role is ideal for an attorney with experience representing insurers or corporate clients in complex litigation who is looking to take on greater responsibility in case management, client counseling, and coverage analysis. Associates work closely with partners on first-party property and third-party liability matters, while also developing the skills necessary to independently manage files and supervise junior attorneys.
Responsibilities:
- Represent insurance carriers and their insureds in complex litigation matters
- Analyze insurance policies and prepare coverage opinions and legal memoranda
- Manage litigation from claim investigation through resolution, including strategy development
- Draft motions, pleadings, and discovery
- Take and defend depositions and participate in mediations and arbitrations
- Assist with trial preparation and case strategy
- Communicate directly with insurer clients regarding case developments and legal strategy
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- 3–5 years of litigation experience, preferably in insurance coverage or insurance defense
- Active bar admission in PA, NJ, NY, DE, or MD (PA preferred)
- Experience with depositions, motion practice, and discovery management
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters and work directly with clients
- Interest in developing case management and supervisory skills
- Experience analyzing insurance policies and drafting coverage opinions strongly preferred
