We are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join our growing international legal team. This role requires expertise in US privacy regulations with a strong understanding of cross-border data transfer requirements, particularly for companies with global operations. The ideal candidate will combine deep data protection knowledge with commercial contract expertise to support our expanding business operations.

Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
  • Data Compliance Program Management: Partner with Chief Privacy Officer/DPO to implement global data protection measures, conduct DPIAs, and maintain compliance procedures and incident response protocols
  • Commercial Contract Drafting & Negotiation: Draft, review, and negotiate commercial transaction agreements; lead contract negotiations for international partnerships and manage template development
  • Regulatory Response & Risk Management: Lead privacy breach incident response, prepare regulatory filings and compliance reports, and serve as primary contact for regulatory inquiries across multiple jurisdictions

Qualifications and Experience:
Required Qualifications:
  • Education & Licensing
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active membership in good standing with a US state bar

Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years of legal experience in corporate legal departments or law firms
  • In-house counsel experience strongly preferred, with demonstrated ability to provide practical business-focused legal advice
  • Demonstrated expertise in data privacy and cross-border data transfer compliance and data protection impact assessments
  • Substantial experience with commercial contract drafting, review, and negotiation

Working Environment & Skills:
  • Native or near-native English proficiency
  • Fluency in Mandarin Chinese (preferred but not mandatory)
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-growth corporate environment
  • Strong project management skills with ability to independently drive complex initiatives to completion

  • Flexible working hours required to accommodate US-China operations and cross-timezone collaboration
