Job Summary:
Vericast is seeking a highly motivated Legal Counsel - Privacy to report directly to and work closely with the Chief Privacy Officer and Deputy General Counsel. In this role, you will help ensure compliance with legal and contractual privacy and data-protection requirements for diverse datasets, with a primary focus on non-public personal information under the GLBA and related financial-services data. This role will give you an opportunity to deepen your knowledge of ever-evolving privacy and data-protection laws and regulations (with a distinct emphasis on U.S. law) and related industry changes as you actively help to continuously improve the Company's privacy and data-protection policies, processes, and practices. The ideal candidate is naturally curious, detail-oriented, and analytical, as well as a creative problem-solver who works well with others across functions. Key Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ability to analyze and have in-depth understanding of evolving privacy and data protection laws and regulations (GLBA, CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA, etc.) and related client contractual requirements (e.g., data acquisition/collection, usage, transfer, etc.) to assist in compliance efforts with respect to same (20%)
- Assist in maintaining privacy-related policies, standards, guidelines, and processes (10%)
- Assist with analysis of data procured for use in products and services, including ensuring proper collection, consent when required, scope of permissible uses, etc. (10%)
- Assist with responding to internal inquiries regarding data governance and data usage to ensure compliance with privacy regulations, Company privacy policies, and client contractual requirements (10%)
- Liaise with Vendor Security Risk Management team to ensure privacy compliance (10%)
- Assist with Company's data governance efforts, including privacy impact assessments and processes around appropriate deletion/destruction of data (15%)
- Primary responsibility for Company's consumer privacy request process and responses to consumers, including client inquiries related to consumer rights requests (25%)
Qualifications:
Education:
- Juris Doctor Degree (Required)
- Active law license
Experience:
- 3 - 5 years Relevant experience with privacy and data- protection laws and regulations (Required)
- 3 - 5 years Experience with contractual privacy and data- protection obligations (Preferred)

Additional Information:
Annual Base Salary: $115,000-$140,000
