Position Overview:
Rikka Law Group is seeking an attorney to provide legal research, drafting, counseling, case-management, and litigation-support services for a federal agency. This role is expected to carry a substantial share of day-to-day research, writing, document review, deadline management, and matter support under the supervision of the Attorney Program Lead and senior counsel.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Research controlling statutes, regulations, executive orders, case law, policies, collective-bargaining provisions, procedural rules, and other legal requirements.
  • Prepare legal research memoranda, options papers, risk assessments, privileged advice, and recommended courses of action.
  • Draft and revise pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery materials, declarations, affidavits, subpoenas, and related filings.
  • Review discovery materials for responsiveness, relevance, privilege, confidentiality, and legal sufficiency using Government-approved systems.
  • Prepare privilege logs, redaction recommendations, production instructions, record indices, legal chronologies, and filing-ready materials.
  • Conduct cite checking, record-citation verification, legal-sufficiency review, and final filing quality control.
  • Maintain matter files, calendars, issue trackers, deliverables logs, and status information, and support weekly matter reporting.
  • Support appeals, settlement analysis, mediation, hearings, and other authorized legal matters as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • J.D.
  • Active bar membership in good standing.
  • At least 5 years of relevant legal practice.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and case-management skills.
  • Ability to produce accurate, citation-verified legal work under compressed deadlines.

Preferred Experience:
  • Federal employment or labor law.
  • Administrative law and agency counseling.
  • Federal procurement or ethics/compliance counseling.
  • Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Privacy Act, records, confidentiality, or information-disclosure law.
  • Federal litigation, administrative proceedings, or appellate support.

Engagement Requirements
  • Complete required background checks, execute a nondisclosure agreement, and complete conflicts-of-interest certification and rules-of-behavior/security training before starting work.
  • Maintain an active law license in good standing throughout performance.
  • Be available to support time-sensitive matters during Eastern Time business hours and meet applicable urgent or emergency response requirements.
  • Comply with conflict-of-interest, confidentiality, professional-responsibility, security, privacy, records-management, and Government-approved systems requirements.
  • Comply with the engagement restrictions governing the use of artificial intelligence resources and protection of non-public Government information.
  • Work under Rikka Law Group supervision and coordinate assignments through the Attorney Program Lead.
