Job Description:
Norco is currently seeking an individual to fill our part-time Legal Counsel position. The Legal Counsel provides legal guidance and support across Norco's operations to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. This role is responsible for reviewing contracts, advising on employment law matters, managing risk, and supporting strategic initiatives. The position requires strong problem-solving skills and has a significant impact on organizational risk mitigation and decision-making. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide legal advice and counsel to internal stakeholders on a wide range of legal issues including contracts, employment law, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including vendor agreements, customer contracts, leases, and NDAs
- Support HR in managing employee relations issues, investigations, and policy development
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations and ensure organizational compliance
- Manage relationships with external legal counsel and coordinate litigation or other legal matters
- Assist in the development and implementation of company policies and procedures
- Provide training to staff on legal topics such as compliance, ethics, and risk management
- Support mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions as needed
- Maintain legal documentation and ensure proper recordkeeping
- Follow Safe work practices in performance of all duties and follow the company's safety policies daily
- Stay informed of and adhere to company policies and procedures
- Work well with team
- Perform other tasks as assigned or needed
- Expected range of 8-24 hours a week
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Five (5) Years minimum experience practicing law, preferably in a corporate or in-house setting
- Experience in healthcare, manufacturing, or distribution industries preferred
- Background in employment law, contract law, and regulatory compliance preferred
- Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. State, with the ability to obtain licensure in Idaho within 6 months if not already licensed
- Valid drivers license
- Strong understanding of or ability to become proficient in corporate law, employment law, and regulatory frameworks
- Familiarity with or ability to become proficient in HIPAA, OSHA, and other industry-specific regulations
- Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills
- Skilled in contract drafting and negotiation
- Ability to be self-motivated and work with minimal supervision
- Ability to keep sensitive information confidential
- Ability to make decisions using good judgement
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
