Legal Counsel
Full-Time
Location: Within PPMM Territory

Essential Duties:
  • Conduct legal research and stay up to date on laws impacting the organization including healthcare, patient privacy, real estate, employee matters, and security.
  • Develop and edit legal and compliance trainings, presentations, and written materials for the organization.
  • Assist with ongoing litigation matters.
  • Review contracts, agreements, policies, and other documents.
  • Review outside requests for records, including subpoenas.
  • Support the work of the PPMM's Compliance, Risk, and Quality Management program, including the implementation of policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Assist with HIPAA investigations and reporting obligations.
  • Represent PPMM at key stakeholder meetings.
  • Organize and maintain documents for the legal department.
  • Provide administrative and organizational support as needed and adhere to internal systems for recordkeeping and information sharing.

Qualifications:
  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • 3-5 years relevant experience.
  • Admission to the CA or NV State Bar or ability to obtain admission in a reasonable time.

  • Outstanding legal research, writing, and analytical skills, including the ability to adapt writing for various non-legal audiences.
  • Ability to communicate and build relationships across departments in a hybrid workplace.
  • Outstanding time management and organizational skills, with careful attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, problem-solve, multi-task, work independently, and exercise good judgment in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Westlaw.
