Description:
Position Overview:NAE is seeking an experienced employment law attorney to join our Reno office as Legal Counsel. This role focuses on advising Nevada employers on labor and employment law compliance and helping members solve workplace problems before they become lawsuits.
This is not a traditional billable hour law firm role. You will work with a wide variety of industries, provide proactive advice, teach training programs, and build trusted relationships with business leaders across Nevada.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide day to day advice to NAE members on Nevada and federal employment law
- Draft and review employee handbooks, policies, agreements, and HR documents
- Assist employers with discipline issues, investigations, terminations, accommodations, leave issues, and wage and hour compliance
- Present training programs and webinars for supervisors, HR professionals, and executives
- Support NAE conferences and employer events statewide
- Monitor legal developments and communicate practical guidance to members
- Collaborate with NAE HR consultants and leadership on member solutions
Qualifications:
- Active Nevada bar license required
- Three or more years of labor and employment law experience preferred
- Strong writing and presentation skills
- Ability to explain complex legal issues in practical business terms
- Comfortable speaking to groups and teaching training sessions
- Strong client service mindset
- Desire to work in a collaborative mission driven organization
- Employment litigation experience is helpful but not required. Advice and counseling experience is highly valued.
