Description:

Legal Counsel is primarily responsible for acting as in-house counsel for An Orthotics & Prosthetics Service Company, including serving as Data Protection Officer.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide general legal advice to An Orthotics & Prosthetics Service Company and Clinics and other companies within the An Orthotics & Prosthetics Service Company Group as requested, both in the U.S. and abroad, including leading in-house subject matter expertise regarding US data privacy laws, regulations, requirements applicable to the collection, processing, transfer, and sharing of personal data
  • In cooperation with internal compliance functions and, review, evaluate, and implement proposed privacy policies, programs and procedures
  • Prepare, negotiate, review and revise various contracts, including distribution agreements, sales representative agreements, consulting agreements, GPO agreements, licenses, non-disclosure agreements, business associate agreements, etc.
  • Advise and coordinate with internal compliance and regulatory functions to ensure compliance with applicable Federal and State laws (e.g., Federal Anti-Kickback Law, False Claims Act, Buy American Act, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, F.D.A. regulations, etc.)
  • Partner with business units to assess legal risk and provide legal guidance
  • Participate in acquisitions, litigations and other projects as required
  • All employees must be aware, have knowledge and shall have recieved general training in Quality requirements of An Orthotics & Prosthetics Service Company. Training takes place in the Onboarding process and in New Employee Orientation. More specific Quality training is job specific.
  • All training related to the quality management system is done in accordance to the Training Management Process (QM1681).
  • Exercises good use of company funds and property within the set guidelines. Maintains an honest and professional attitude as the company's representative at all times.
  • Contributes to a safe working environment by maintaining own workspace and reporting any potential hazards
  • Performs process validations.

Qualifications:
  • Law Degree and 3+ years' experience in Corporate Environment
  • Healthcare industry background is a plus
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong analytics capabilities
  • Proficient with Microsoft software products including OUTLOOK, WORD, EXCEL, and POWERPOINT
  • Ability to travel required, domestic and global, 20%
  • Flexible work schedule to accommodate regularly scheduled meetings with global counterparts in consideration of time zone differences
