The Role:
Join a collaborative team of legal professionals, where your contributions are crucial to the ambitious goals of our growing business. The Legal Counsel will provide day to day legal support to the US business unit, working in partnership with business stakeholders across the organization.

Core responsibilities include policy form and endorsement drafting, product strategy development and innovation, legal support for marketing initiatives, assisting with regulatory matters, inquiries and filings, serving as legal partner on project teams, and legal research.

This is a hybrid position, with minimum twice a week in-office presence required.**

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Coordinate with partners across claims, operations, and underwriting to develop policy form wordings, including competitor market research. Coordinate with product partners to draft policy form endorsements aligning language to intent while minimizing potential ambiguity for legacy products.
  • Partner with State Filings on form and endorsement submissions and intervening with state regulators to address identified filing inquiries.
  • Support comprehensive product/wordings updates and re-design projects and advise on regulatory and litigation trends relevant to product strategies.
  • Draft and review insurance services and distribution agreements, e.g., terms of business agreement (TOBA).
  • Support issues related to consumer complaints, financial and market conduct examinations, and regulator information requests.
  • Advising business units on insurance regulatory requirements impacting distribution, licensing, marketing, operations, etc.
  • Collaborating across legal, compliance, and other control functions on projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of law firm or in-house insurance industry experience in the property & casualty space, preferably liability insurance.
  • Understanding of property & casualty insurance products, including cyber, D&O, E&O & GL.
  • Experience with insurance policy wordings, coverage, and regulatory approval processes.
  • Commercial contract negotiation experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of insurance contract principles and regulatory requirements applicable to the industry.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.
  • Capable of working independently and/or as part of a team.
  • JD required.
  • Admittance to at least one state.
