Job Description:
A Law Firm of More than 350 Attorneys is seeking a Lead eDiscovery Attorney, preferably based in our New York, San Francisco or Silicon Valley office, although other office locations will be considered.
  • ​Advise and support clients and case teams through all phases of eDiscovery, including preservation, processing, review, and production.
  • Provide guidance on pre-litigation information governance, deposition/witness preparation, and trial support.
  • Lead negotiations on electronically stored information (ESI) protocols and related matters and prepare and argue eDiscovery related motions.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, professional staff, and clients to develop and implement tailored eDiscovery best practices for specific matters, including workflows and protocols.
  • Advise clients on defensible data disposition, legal holds, and records retention policies, with an emphasis on practicality and risk management.
  • Oversee team of Litigation Staff Attorneys, including participation in staffing and training.
  • Oversee the quality and efficiency of work produced by junior attorneys, staff attorneys, contract attorneys, and service providers.
  • Ensure that eDiscovery workflows are focused on risk mitigation, cost control, and defensibility while identifying critical information necessary for case success.
  • Monitor and counsel stakeholders on developments and other changes to applicable eDiscovery rules and regulations.
  • Liaise with Practice Support and Knowledge & Innovation teams to deploy and troubleshoot eDiscovery technologies.
  • Partner with Attorney Training & Development team to develop training programs on document reviews and associated technologies.

Qualifications:
  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • At least 7 years of experience guiding and supporting clients and case teams through all phases of eDiscovery.
  • In-depth knowledge of eDiscovery laws, regulations and best practices.
  • Substantial experience with eDiscovery review platforms, ability to maximize efficiencies in those platforms, and adaptability to work with new platforms over time.
  • Ability to manage complex discovery workflows and deliver tailored, strategic eDiscovery advice.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to convey complex legal and technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality control and risk management
  • Ability to proactively manage case team expectations, recognize needs and adapt plans accordingly.
  • Willingness to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
