Position Summary...As a Lead Counsel for An American Multinational Retail Corporation Supply Chain Legal Team, you will serve as a business, legal and strategic advisor to a national network of critical distribution operations powered by more than 49,000 associates working across more than 140 facilities in 7 different formats ranging from imports to regional distribution helping to flow more than $180B in sales.

What you'll do...
- Provide day-to-day business, legal, and strategic guidance to field operations and executive-level associates alike on nearly any topic related to achieving An American Multinational Retail Corporation strategic objectives with an appropriate understanding of potential associated risks, implementation of effective risk mitigations, as well as in compliance with applicable laws and regulations and An American Multinational Retail Corporation policies and procedures.
- Review, negotiate, and draft a wide variety of commercial-transactional agreements, ranging from third-party services contracts at a site level to multibillion dollar capital equipment program agreements, M&A-related agreements, and intellectual property/technology development and licensing agreements.
- Help lead enterprise response to safety incidents or other events with potential adverse impacts to operational continuity and business risk, including facility associate serious injuries/hospitalizations and fatalities, regulatory visits, and impacts of changes to laws/regulations on day-to-day operations.
- Identify when to consult and engage An American Multinational Retail Corporation Legal SMEs to help ensure clients receive accurate and holistic advice across a wide spectrum of issues.
- Create and lead privileged cross-functional project teams to investigate and address issues with potential adverse impacts to the enterprise.
- Advise on application of and compliance with WMUS Governance policies to a wide range of agreements, projects, transactions, etc.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain Legal team colleagues to address cross-network issues as well as lend support to projects, transactions, etc.
What you'll bring:
- You possess a Juris Doctor (J.D.) with a license to practice law and membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
- You have acquired 10+ years of legal experience in any combination of law firm and in-house legal or hybrid business-legal roles in which you have led in drafting and negotiation of complex commercial agreements supporting capital programs, manufacturing, M&A, technology development.
- You can articulate specific examples of effectively supporting and influencing day-to-day business operations and particularly supply chain operations (e.g., procurement, logistics, distribution, regulatory compliance, and/or technology).
- You possess strong leadership, project management, and communication skills as well as a compelling executive presence with experience advising and interacting with executive leaders, and particularly the ability to apply design thinking/human-centered design principles in effectively communicating critical information to clients at all levels.
- You are a multifaceted problem-solver who seamlessly integrates deep legal acumen with wide-ranging business savvy, thinking like a lawyer and solving like a businessperson.
