Job Summary:We are growing and need to add another lawyer to our team. We are seeking a recent law school graduate to join us in an entry level position. We are a litigation firm. The successful candidate will prepare discovery,draft pleadings and briefs and participate in preparing cases for trial. When the candidate is licensed in the state of South Carolina, that person will depose witnesses and appear in court proceedings. The goal is for the person to become a successful trial lawyer as part of this firm.
We are open to considering a person who is in the last year of law school. That person will assist Mr. Harte and Mr. Cooper. Recent graduates of Law School or a Senior Law Student who intends to practice in South Carolina and will be comfortable in a litigation practice should apply. We appear in Civil, Criminal and Family Court. We are licensed in the State Courts of South Carolina and the Federal Courts. Attitude, drive and dedication to excellence are what we are looking for. Must be comfortable communicating with clients and court personnel.
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive legal advice across various practice areas including Civil, Criminal and Family Law.
- Conduct detailed legal research utilizing tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case strategies and ensure up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence with precision and clarity.
- Manage multiple cases or projects simultaneously while maintaining strict adherence to deadlines and organizational standards.
- Assist in preparing for litigation by gathering evidence, analyzing case facts, and developing effective legal strategies.
- Collaborate with internal teams or external clients to facilitate smooth communication and successful resolution of legal issues.
- Maintain organized records of all legal documents and case files within the law office management system.
- Stay informed about changes in laws affecting the organization through ongoing research and professional development.
Skills:
- Interest in personal injury law, Criminal and Family Law.
- Strong research skills with proficiency in LexisNexis and Westlaw platforms to gather relevant legal information efficiently are preferred.
- Ability to draft clear legal documents and correspondence that withstand scrutiny.
- Ability to learn good negotiating skills.
- Able to relate to clients and witnesses with ease.
